Lifespan study of cultured fibroblasts with mitochondrial pertubations
Study aims to provide a complementary (to other model systems) strategy and research model to conduct lifespan experiments in cultured human fibroblasts. This research team focused on mitochondrial metabolism in order to better understand how cellular energetics affect the biology of cellular aging. Special emphasis was made on longitudinal dataset collection – for the purpose of modeling cellular aging process in time.
The dataset (multi-omics) included genomic, epigenomic, transcriptomics, and protein-based measurements, along with the bio-energetic and mitochondrial OxPhos (mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation system) measurements. In addition, the experimental cell culture samples included those obtained from patients with inherited “mitochondrial disease” (lethal SURF1 mutations), thus providing extra experimental insights.Obtained dataset is available publicly Here.
